This piece depicts a lone kingfisher perched on a branch overlooking a riverbank.
The piece is inspired by the natural beauty of the kingfisher and river, while it appears beautiful the plastic pollution used to create it reflects a stark contrast in our triggered emotions of the reality before us.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere winter is fast approaching. As I sit in my studio listening to the rain falling again it is hard not to think about the waste flowing down the rivers once more into the ocean.
As always through my art, I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the fragility and complexity of our natural world, as well as renew a sense of urgency to protect it for generations to come.
